Caution! Entering, modifying, or deleting data in an incorrect manner may cause the database to malfunction resulting in corrupt or lost data. To protect your data, read this manual before using the application.
That being said, we would like to welcome you to DarkStone Data’s Build for Business database suite for Lotus® Approach 97®. We decided to place the preceding caution as the very first paragraph of our manual with the hope that it will encourage you to continue to read through it before you begin to use the database.
Our opening statement isn’t intended to make you apprehensive. Built for Business is easy to use, with what we hope you will find as a user friendly interface. But the database modules do contain some rather complex data relationships between the various data tables. This requires that certain data be entered or deleted in a specific manner in order for the database to operate correctly. This manual will explain how to do that.
We won’t be wasting a lot of your time in this manual showing you the specifics of what data to enter where. You already know that your customer’s names should go into a field named “customer” and that the addresses are entered in the fields that follow. Most of that is just common sense stuff that you will not have a problem with. What we will be covering in this manual is a brief overview of each section and the features that are available to you.
Because of the complex relationship of some, the formulas and macros that drive the database must look for certain information in a particular order. We’ll point out these instances and explain to you how to enter the information so that your data will fall into place and the database will function properly. We will also explain options and alternatives that may or may not be self-evident to you when you begin using the database. And we will explain any of those fields where the intended use may not be as clear as the others fields.
Using the Built for Business database module is easy, as long as you follow the simple guidelines set forth in this manual.
Please read the User Agreement and License before installing and using the Built for Business application.
